Dig Too Deep by Amy Allgeyer-April 1st, 2016
If you are a mini Erin Brockovich, social activist or future detective, this is should be on your “to-read” list. Check out this quick summary: With her mother facing prison time after a political protest, 17 year old Liberty Briscoe leaves for Kentucky to live with her grandmother. When her grandmother becomes ill, Liberty suspects the local coal mine is to blame, and embarks on an investigation to get to the bottom of it all. Liberty starts to wonder about the water, the people who tested it, and the coal mining company that took the top off Tanner’s Peak. However, a major question arises: What’s more dangerous: the water in the valley or the search for the truth?
Fifteen Lanes by S.J Laidlaw-April 5th, 2016
This story is pretty awesome because Laidlaw herself lives in Mumbai where the story takes place. We are so excited for this tale of friendship and to explore a place we’ve never been to. Noor has lived all of her 14 years in Mumbai’s red light district. Born into a brothel, she must act soon if she as any chance of escaping a grim future. Grace, on the other hand, has lived a life of privilege in Mumbai, but has become the victim of a cruel online attack. When the paths of these two girls intersect, their lives will change forever.
Fiona by Meredith Moore-April 5th, 2016
Fiona moves from her home in Texas to take a job in the Scottish Highland’s, a place she has always dreamed of visiting and the homeland of her deceased mother. The opportunity for a new and exciting life quickly turns bad when an old family feud resurfaces and causes her to face ghosts of her past. This is a story about the struggles arising from mental health, but also the strength that can arise when one believes in him/herself.
